Copyright & Permission
Copyright for articles published in Japanese Journal of Applied Physics (JJAP) or Applied Physics Express (APEX), except gold Open Access articles, is transferred to the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) when the article is accepted for publication in the journal in any form. JSAP shall have the right to publish the article in any medium or by any means. However, the copyright of the gold Open Access articles and the articles published in JJAP Conference Proceedings, to which the Creative Commons license “CC BY” has been applied, shall belong to the authors.
Permission for Reproduction of Published Materials
The copyright management work for APEX and JJAP has been transferred to IOP Publishing (IOPP) since 2019. If you wish to reproduce article(s), figures, or tabular material from the articles published in APEX and JJAP, please visit the web page of copyright in IOPscience, follow the contents carefully, and submit your request for permission to IOPP directly, if necessary.

You do not require permission from the Japan Society of Applied Physics to reproduce part of a paper if you are one of the authors of the paper, with the following conditions.
- The Copyright Policy of the Japan Society of Applied Physics must be followed (see below).
- The footnote “Copyright (year of publication) The Japan Society of Applied Physics” must be added to the reproduced content (at the end of the figure captions, for example).
- The paper must be cited as a reference in the publication.
Permission should be obtained from one of the following organizations to photocopy any work from any publication in the journals above, other than legally permitted cases (refer to Japan domestic copyright law Articles 30, 31,35 et al.). Photocopy license is granted to the Japan Academic Association for Copyright Clearance (JAACC).
