JSAP Outstanding Paper Award Stipulation

(Purpose)
Article 1.This stipulation shall provide the requirements for the Japan Society of Applied Physics (hereinafter referred to as “JSAP”) Outstanding Paper Award presented to its members for academic development in the field of applied physics.

(Award Categories)
Article 2.JSAP shall establish the “JSAP Paper Award,” “JSAP Young Scientist Award,” and “Award for Best Review Paper” as JSAP Outstanding Paper Awards and select awardees of each category and awarded by the president every year.

(JSAP Paper Award)
Article 3.The JSAP Paper Award will be presented to the authors of excellent original papers contributing to the progress and improvement of applied physics. The candidate paper shall be published in the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics and Applied Physics Express in the first and second preceding years, starting with the nomination in principle.
2. Up to 10 papers will be awarded each year. -
(JSAP Young Scientist Award)
Article 4.The JSAP Young Scientist Award will be presented to young researchers who have mainly authored excellent papers that are expected to contribute to the progress of applied physics. The candidate paper shall be published in the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics and Applied Physics Express in the first and second preceding years, starting with the nomination in principle.
2. As of April 1 of the year starting the nomination, the candidate must be younger than 35 years and not have been presented this award.
3. Up to 10 papers will be awarded each year. -
(Award for Best Review Paper)
Article 5.The Award for Best Review Paper will be presented to the authors of papers such as the Comprehensive Research Report, Review, and Invited Paper that are enlightening and educational to JSAP members and encourage progress and improvements in applied physics. The candidate paper shall be published in the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, Applied Physics Express, and the membership journal OYO BUTURI in the first and second preceding years, starting with the nomination in principle.
2. Up to 3 papers will be awarded each year. -
(Application)
Article 6.The JSAP Outstanding Paper Award may be applied for through self-nomination or nomination by others.
2. The JSAP Paper Award and the JSAP Young Scientist Award may be applied for simultaneously. -
(Selection and public announcement)
Article 7.The JSAP Paper Award Committee designated by the president shall select the awarded papers and awardees and nominate them to the Board. The Board shall then determine the awardees.
2. After a decision is made by the Board, the president shall immediately notify them of the decision and announce it officially in the membership journal OYO BUTURI and on its website. -
(Limitations of awardees as members)
Article 8.In principle, the awardees of the JSAP Paper Award and the JSAP Young Scientist Award shall be JSAP official members, honorary members, emeritus members, or student members at the time of the award.

(Award ceremony)
Article 9.The award ceremony will be held at the JSAP annual meeting.

(Supplementary Prize and others)
Article 10.Awardees may receive certificates and medals as supplementary prizes.
2. If awardees living outside Japan attend the award ceremony, they may accept travel support as prescribed. -
(Miscellaneous)
Article 11.This stipulation may be amended with the approval of the Board.
Supplementary provision
This stipulation has been in effect since April 1, 1979.
