JSAP Fellow Stipulations

(Content)
Article 1The Fellow Award Stipulations shall provide the requirements for the Fellow Award given by the Japan Society of Applied Physics (hereinafter referred to as “JSAP”).

(Objective)
Article 2The objective of the Fellow Award system is as follows;
- (1) To bestow the title Fellow of JSAP (JSAP Fellow) to JSAP official members who have made outstanding contributions to the development of applied physics through continuous activities in JSAP, in recognition of their achievements, and thereby encouraging them to exercise leadership as a member worthy of representing JSAP.
- (2) To bestow the title International Fellow of JSAP (JSAP Fellow International) to individuals living overseas who contributed significantly to the progress of JSAP through their overseas activities and in recognition of their achievements.

(Requirement)
Article 3The outstanding contributions mentioned in the preceding article are those that contribute to the development of applied physics by stimulating academic and research activities, the development and fostering of industrial technologies, and educational and public interest activities.

(Individuals eligible for Fellow Award)
Article 4Individuals eligible for the Fellow Award shall be JSAP official members who have been JSAP members with a cumulative total of 10 years or more at the time of nomination. This shall not apply to Article 2, Item 2. However, JSAP Officers (directors and auditors) of an incumbent at the time of nomination and at the time of determining the awardees shall not be eligible for the Fellow Award.

(Number of Fellows)
Article 5The total number of JSAP fellows shall be approximately 3% of the JSAP individual members (except for division individual members).
2. In the calculation of the preceding paragraph, those who apply Article 2, Item 2, and are not JSAP members are excluded. -
(Nomination of candidates)
Article 6JSAP fellows, honorary members, emeritus members, or JSAP official members who have been JSAP members with a cumulative total of 10 years or more at the time of nomination can nominate the candidate. Self-nomination shall not be accepted. However, the chair and members of the Fellow Award Committee and JSAP Officers (directors and auditors) of an incumbent at the time of nomination shall not be a nominator or nomination supporter.

(Candidate selection process)
Article 7To choose Fellow Award candidates, a Fellow Award Committee shall be established. The Committee shall select appropriate candidates for a Fellow Award from nominated candidates and nominate them to the Board.
The stipulations of the Fellow Award Committee shall be specified separately. -
(Selection of awardees)
Article 8The Board shall discuss the candidates nominated by the Committee and determine the awardees.

(Public announcement)
Article 9After a decision is made on the Fellow Awardees, the Board shall immediately notify the awardees and all nominators of the decision and officially announce it in the membership journal OYO BUTURI and on the website with the names of the Fellow Award Committee members.

(Method of awarding)
Article 10The Fellow Award shall be given under the name of the incumbent JSAP President at the time of the awarding.
2. The awarding ceremony shall be held at the JSAP annual meeting.
3. If the awardee of the JSAP Fellow International attends the awarding ceremony, they may accept travel support as prescribed separately. -
(Bestowing the title of Fellow)
Article 11A Fellow Award Certificate shall be conferred on each Fellow Awardee(s).

(Expiration date of the title)
Article 12Fellow Awardee(s) in accordance with Article 2, Item 1 may use the title during the period of their membership in JSAP.

(Stipulation amendment procedure)
Article 13These stipulations may be amended by the approval of the director in charge of general administration.
Supplementary provision
These stipulations have been in effect since July 5, 2006.
