Announcement of Office Candidate Election and Representatives Candidate Election for the 58th Period

1. Officers

As stipulated by the Articles of Incorporation and related rules, officers for the 58th period (FY2019) will be selected from official members at the general assembly (Articles of Incorporation, Article 19 and 20). Before the general assembly, officer candidates to be submitted at the general assembly will be elected from official members (Officer Candidate Election Rules, Chapter 2). The elected chairman of the board candidate will be nominated by the general assembly and subsequently appointed by the Board of Directors (Officer Candidate Election Rules, Article 12).

Open positions for the current period: 12 directors and 1 auditor

Candidates are either official members who independently stand for election or official members nominated by the Board of Directors (Officer Candidate Election Rules, Article 6).

Official members who want to independently stand for election should submit by mail a notification, which clearly indicates the office (director or auditor), to the Election Administration Committee by Friday August 31 along with the signatures (hand-written) of ten or more official members nominating them. (No set format for the notification.)

For members and member organizations nominated by the Board of Directors as qualified parties (including those who nominate themselves), the name of the nominated party and the party making the nomination should be mailed to the Election Administration Committee by Friday August 31 (no set format). Received material will be passed on to the Board of Directors.

2. Representatives

In accordance with Articles of Incorporation and related rules, representatives for the 58th period will be selected from official members by vote (Articles of Incorporation, Article 5). The election will consist of a vote of confidence for nominated candidates and a general vote for candidates independently standing for election. Nominated candidates are ones nominated by the Representative Nomination Committee taking into consideration nominations by official members and member organization.

Open positions for the current period: 74 (67 for nominated candidates, 7 for candidates independently standing for election)

Official members who want to independently stand for the Representatives Candidate Election must mail the designated candidate notification form to the Election Administration Committee within the Secretariat of the association by Tuesday July 31.

For members nominated by the Representative Nomination Committee as qualified parties (including those who nominate themselves), the name of the nominated party and the party making the nomination must be mailed to the Election Administration Committee by Tuesday July 31.

*The deadline for nomination of JSAP representatives candidates has been changed to July 31st. Please note that of JSAP officers candidates is August 31st, the same as last year.
