We developed a technique for displaying blood flow rate vector, called Vector Flow Mapping (VFM), to visualize intracardiac blood flow patterns by ultrasound. To address the issue of guaranteeing reliability of measurements, we developed a technique that allows eliminating aberrant measurement values by estimating accuracy for each measurement as well as by comparing measurements with those from established optical velocimetry methods (cover figure). These approaches for guaranteeing reliability have demonstrated that VFM can accurately display blood flow rate vector. We therefore proceeded to conduct clinical evaluation of the technique. (p.404)
