A non-linear optical CsLiB6O10 crystal from Japan has been used as a wavelength conversion element that emits a deep UV coherent source, for semi-conductor inspections. Its microdefects, etc., that can be observed as optical scattering have been a cause of damage, but we were successful at developing a high-quality crystal with reduced defects through the advancement of crystal growth technology. The higher output of deep UV coherent lasers has been sought for the next generation in the field of laser processing, and we are now working on the creation of a large single-crystal that will allow a supply of large-diameter elements.
