Superconductivity in the thin films of iron-chalcogenide superconductors

Ten years have passed since the discovery of iron-based superconductors. Among them, iron chalcogenides have attracted a considerable amount of attention in recent years. However, in the bulk crystals of iron chalcogenides, there is a miscibility gap in a wide composition region, and it has been a serious obstacle in experimental research because it prevents systematic study using samples with various compositions, which is essential for investigating novel superconductors. Recently we have succeeded in growing single crystalline samples by thin-film growth in the composition region where bulk samples could not be obtained. In the article, we present the obtained complete electronic phase diagram of iron chalcogenide and discuss the unique aspects that are specific to this novel type of superconductivity in the multiband system revealed in our study.
