Tips for circuit simulation

Circuit simulation consists of two parts. One is a Jacobian matrix solver of the transistor network and the other is a compact transistor model. Circuit simulators solve the node potential distribution within a circuit by the Newton iteration method. Major effort has been devoted to develop stable and fast matrix solvers for different purposes. Newly developed transistor models are based on the potential distribution within transistors, which is different from the conventional description as a function of applied bias values. The new modeling method enables the describing of complicated higher-order phenomena in a simple way.
