The distributions of the amount of matter inside the unit 2 and 5 reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, which were revealed through cosmic muon radiography using a nuclear emulsion. When focusing on the reactor core region, the amount of matter in the unit 2 reactor was less than that of the unit 5 reactor, indicating a large quantity of fuel had been lost due to the nuclear meltdown. Using this technology, currently a study of the interiors of the pyramids is moving forward. Applications to a variety of fields, such as geological surveys of volcanoes and faults, and diagnostic technologies for industrial plants and infrastructure, are expected. (p.950)
