Meeting & Events

The JSAP holds two national meetings annually where generally one third of the JSAP members participate. The spring meeting (held in the Tokyo area) usually has about 9000 participants and the autumn meeting (held in other parts of Japan), approximately 6000. The conventions are held over a period of four days during which about 4000 papers are presented in regular sessions and symposia. In addition to the 18 predetermined lectures and a general lecture, guest lectures (by invitation) and integrated/combined lectures on related fields are also held. In particular, physics and chemistry and related fields are focused upon; an exhibition on instruments and tools used in applied physics is also conducted. The meetings provide a good medium for activities related to the industrial-government-academic complex.

Every year, JSAP organizes or co-organizes (with other academic societies) about 20 international conferences in the field of applied physics and related fields. JSAP members can attend some of them at reduced fees.

—Applied Physics on Materials Research—

Dear MRS-JSAP 2012 Spring Authors:

Authors of MRS-JSAP 2012 papers are encouraged to submit original papers on the significant features of their work presented at MRS-JSAP 2012 to a Special Issue of Japanese Journal of Applied Physics (JJAP), that will be published in November 2012. Those who wish to submit a paper to the Special Issue should follow the Summary Information for Contributors and Instructions for Preparation of Manuscript (PDF) for JJAP.

The deadline for submission to the Special Issue is May 7, 2012.

The publication schedule for the Special Issue of JJAP is as follows.

May 7, 2012:
Deadline for submission of papers to the Special Issue
August 31, 2012:
Deadline for review process for all papers
November 20, 2012:
Publication of the Special Issue of JJAP (No.11)

IMPORTANT NOTICE

  1. Papers submitted to the Special Issue should not have text identical to that appearing in the MRS-JSAP 2012 Spring Abstracts. The content of the paper should be original. Presentation by one of the authors is a prerequisite; authors are not eligible for submission to the Special Issue without presentation at the conference.
  2. Submitted papers will be reviewed on the basis of the JJAP standards for original papers. Not all papers submitted will necessarily be accepted in the final review.
  3. Note that a manuscript will not be included in the Special Issue if it has not been accepted for publication by the deadline for the review process of Aug. 31, as a consequence of the need for authors to make revisions requested by referees.
  4. The Special Issue will be published on November 20, 2012.
  5. Authors of invited papers are also welcome to submit any original part of their presentations. Note that items (1) to (4) are also valid in this case.
  6. The authors (or their institution(s)) are requested to pay the publication charge. For details, see NOTES TO CONTRIBUTORS to JJAP.
  7. Authors should carefully read the information at the following URLs before submitting papers:
    1. General information
