JSAP Outstanding Paper Award
Awards are presented to the authors of outstanding papers published in the main JSAP periodicals, the membership journal (OYO BUTURI), Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, and Applied Physics Express. These awards honor the authors of papers that are regarded as exceptional achievements in applied physics.
Call for Candidates for Paper Award of Japan Society of Applied Physics
The Japan Society of Applied Physics (hereinafter referred to as “JSAP”) will present the JSAP Paper Awards (JSAP Paper Award, JSAP Young Scientist Award, and Award for Best Review Paper) for outstanding achievements in the field of applied physics, as described below. Applications for both the JSAP Paper Award and JSAP Young Scientist Award will also be accepted. We look forward to your applications and self-nominations, and nominations by others are also welcome.

Eligibility and Award Criteria
The awards shall be presented to authors of papers in the three categories described below, which were published in the JSAP Japanese journal “OYO BUTURI” (Vols. 79 and 80) or the English journals “Japanese Journal of Applied Physics” (Vols. 49 and 50) and “Applied Physics Express” (Vols. 3 and 4) in 2010 and 2011. Only JSAP regular members, honorary members, emeritus members and student members can apply for the JSAP Paper Award and JSAP Young Scientist Award in principle. Both JSAP members and nonmembers can apply for Award for Best Review Paper.

Excellent original papers contributing to the progress and improvement of applied physics - JSAP Young Scientist Award
Excellent original papers mainly authored by young researchers (the main author should be younger than 35 as of April 1 of the awarding year) - Award for Best Review Paper
Papers that are enlightening and educational to JSAP members that encourage progress and improvements in applied physics
Number of papers to be awarded
- JSAP Paper Award: up to 10 papers
- JSAP Young Scientist Award: up to 10 papers
- Award for Best Review Paper: up to 3 papers
Documents to be submitted
- A reprint of candidate paper
(A copy of the paper is acceptable. Please write “candidate paper” in red ink on the first page of the reprint and also specify the category of the awards as JSAP Paper Award, JSAP Young Scientist Award, Award for Best Review Paper or, both JSAP Paper Award and JSAP Young Scientist Award. If there are other relevant papers, please attach a reprint or a copy of such papers.) - A document including the following information regarding all authors
Name, membership number, place of employment (contact information), address, telephone number, e-mail address - Nomination form
(This is required for both self-nominations and nominations by others. Please clearly describe the features and advantages of the paper in approximately 400 words.) - For candidate papers for the JSAP Young Scientist Award, the JSAP will send an agreement form to all co-authors at a later date. Be sure to provide the contact information (address, phone number and e-mail address) of all co-authors.
Awards Presentation
The awards ceremony will be held at the 2012 Autumn Meeting of JSAP. A certificate and medal will be given to the recipients. Also, the recipients will be asked to give a commemorative speech during the Autumn Meeting.
