有機多層膜構造を持つ光増幅デバイス

有機電界発光 (EL) ダイオードの「電子→光」変換機能と,
有機顔料薄膜の「光→電子」変換機能を組み合わせた,光増幅デバイスについて紹介する.
本デバイスは,光導電性有機顔料における光電流増倍現象を利用して,
最大25倍の光増幅を行うことができる.
また,光の短波長変換,出力光のフィードバック効果による光スイッチング,
光パターン記憶など,多くの面白い機能を備えている.

A light amplification device based on hybridization of organic electroluminescent
diodes and photoresponsive perylene pigment films was reported.
Amplification gain of photon conversion from red to red reached 25-fold with
the assistance of the large photocurrent multiplication phenomenon in
perylene pigment films.
Light up-conversion from red to green and optical switching behavior caused
by feedback of output light to the photorespinsive layer were also demonstrated.
